Punda Beach

East-coast sandy bay with music, sunbeds and class

Punda Beach on the east coast of Paros sits between Logaras, Piso Livadi and Golden Beach. It is a sandy, semi-organised bay with beach clubs, beach snacks and a lively but not crazy vibe. Think music, sunbeds and cocktails, plus easy access to quieter stretches a short walk away. It is a good option if you want more atmosphere than Molos or Kalogeros, but something calmer than the full Santa Maria party energy.

How Punda Beach feels through the season

May & June: A very nice time for Punda Beach. Music and beach clubs run, but you still find space on the sand and the vibe is relaxed. Great for couples, early-season families and people who want some energy without crowds.

July & August: The bay becomes busy and social. Sunbeds fill up, music is louder and you get a mixed crowd of groups, couples and families. It is lively but not as intense as Santa Maria on its busiest days.

September: Often the sweet spot. Warm sea, many services still open, but more space between umbrellas and a softer, more local feel.

October (and shoulders): Some beach businesses may wind down, but on sunny days Punda is still a pleasant stop, especially if you have a car and like a quieter seaside walk with swims.

There is also a clear difference between day and evening. Daytime is about sunbeds, swimming and drinks. Evenings shift to taverna dinners, softer music and a more peaceful seafront atmosphere.

Sea, sand and water at Punda Beach

  • Sand: Soft, golden sand along most of the bay, comfortable under bare feet.
  • Water entry: Gently shallow entry, good for less confident swimmers and children under supervision.
  • Water colour: Clear turquoise to deep blue, especially towards midday and early afternoon.
  • Seabed: Mostly sandy seabed with occasional small stones; easy for paddling and casual swimming.
  • Wave / wind behaviour: On typical north meltemi days, Punda is usually swimmable. You may have a bit of texture and chop, but not the heavy surf of the west and north-west coasts.
  • Space: The organised sections (sunbeds and umbrellas) can feel tight in peak weeks, but there are usually some more relaxed areas if you are happy to sit slightly away from the loudest speakers.

Punda Beach is one of the better spots on this side of the island if you want beach clubs and food within a few steps of the sand.

  • Beach clubs & bars: Several spots offer sunbeds, umbrellas, snacks, cocktails and DJ sets or curated playlists. Expect a mix of chill daytime music and livelier afternoons in high season.
  • Tavernas: A couple of nearby places lean towards Greek and Mediterranean dishes, with classics like salads, pasta and fresh fish.
  • Cafés: Good for coffee, juices and light brunch before or after your swim.
  • Sunbeds & umbrellas: Organised sections usually offer packages (two beds plus umbrella with minimum consumption or set price). In peak season it is smart to reserve ahead through your hotel, directly with the beach club or via a local partner.
  • Shops & basics: For simple groceries and extra snacks, Logaras and Piso Livadi have mini-markets, bakeries and ATMs a very short drive away.

Transfers & taxis: Pre-booked private transfers in Paros work very well if you prefer not to drive, especially for evening returns after drinks.

Who Punda Beach works best for

Curving sandy shoreline and calm sea at Punda Beach East, Paros, with beach facilities in the background.
  • Couples and groups of friends who want a beach club vibe with music, drinks and easy swimming.
  • Families with older kids or teens who enjoy some energy and music. Younger children can still be fine here, but very small kids might be happier on quieter beaches like Molos or Drios.
  • People staying in Piso Livadi, Logaras or Marpissa who want a close-by option with services and sunbeds.
  • Visitors who like variety in one day: Punda in the morning, Logaras or Piso Livadi for lunch, and a village like Lefkes in the evening.
  • Beach club fans who prefer some atmosphere and DJs but do not need the full intensity of the biggest party beaches in Greece.

If you are a very quiet, “book-under-a-tree” type, you may prefer Drios, Molos or Kalogeros or some of the smaller south coast coves and treat Punda as a short visit rather than your full day.
